Anderson Powerpole Kit

What are Anderson Powerpoles? They are my favorite way to connect power to my projects and equipment that need more then an amp.  As you can see below, they are made up of two parts – a housing and an insert.  The housings are made of a very tough plastic and can be connected together.  The inserts for these housings come in three different ratings 15Amp, 30Amp, and 45Amp.  One of the biggest benefits to Anderson Powerpoles is that they cannot be inserted wrong when pluging them together.

I will be making a video of how to use and work with Anderson Powerpoles later this week.

AD9834 DDS Update Again

Well it has been some time since I have posted about this project and that is mainly because I have been extremely busy.  But I have news and that news is that I had access to a new Rigol spectrum analyzer and I have made some improvements to my DDS board on v2 with the addition of a low pass filter and I have the screens to show why it was needed and how it helps.

These first two pictures are of the test setup. The DDS is controlled by a Freescale Microprocessor which happens to be Marvin, the frequency read out is just something I had laying around.  The Filter has been prototyped on a piece of perf board.

This is a Screen shot from the spectrum analyzer, you can clearly see the desired signal at 3.16Mhz. The second two peaks are from internal mixing and Master clock pass through.  My solution was to add a 3-pole  low pass filter at 10Mhz to drop out the clock pass through, and clean up the signal.

This is with the filter in place, you can see a dramatic improvement in performance.

The Version 1 and 1.1 boards for comparison.

The new board with the integrated filter and other minor bug fixes has been sitting around for a few months  but I just have not had time to get it together and test it.  This entire project will be available from Base2 Electronics with a Marvin USB control board or stand alone.
